Coliseum Medical Centers and Coliseum Northside Hospital have recognition as Blue Distinction Centers for Spine Surgery from Blue Cross Blue Shield. Blue Distinction Centers for Spine Surgery offer comprehensive inpatient surgical services, including discectomy, fusion and decompression procedures with a commitment to high-quality, successful patient outcomes.
Our surgeons specialize in orthopedic care and perform several surgical procedures, including hip and knee replacements, ligament repair and traditional and minimally invasive surgeries.
Robotic surgery is an advanced form of minimally invasive or laparoscopic (small incision) surgery. Here, our surgeons use a computer-controlled robot with a tiny camera attached to assist them in specific surgical procedures. The robot's "hands" have a high degree of dexterity. This allows our surgeons to operate in very tight spaces in the body that would otherwise be accessible through open (long incision) surgery.
Compared to traditional open surgery, robotic and minimally invasive surgery uses smaller incisions resulting in less pain and scarring. Patients may find they have a shorter recovery. Our robotic surgical specialties are:
- Colorectal surgery
- General surgery
- Gynecological surgery
- Oncology surgery
- Urologic surgery
Our specialists and affiliated surgeons apply their expertise in spine care and use the latest technology and minimally invasive techniques to treat spinal conditions effectively. Conditions we treat include:
- Compression fractures
- Degenerative disc disease
- Herniated disc
- Mechanical back dysfunction
- Spinal deformities
- Spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis
Weight loss surgery
Coliseum Northside Hospital offers options when diet, exercise and medications have reached their limits. Our bariatric center helps you reach your goals through weight loss or bariatric surgery, using procedures such as gastric balloon, gastric sleeve and lap-band surgeries.
Next, our care for patients doesn't stop with surgery. We also offer postoperative education, support groups and clinic visits to ensure you have the necessary tools to live a healthy life.
Women's health surgery
For some women's disorders, medication and non-invasive procedures are unable to provide symptom relief. In such instances, surgery remains the most accepted and effective treatment for a range of gynecologic conditions. These conditions may include:
- Cervical and uterine cancer
- Menorrhagia or excessive bleeding
- Uterine fibroids
- Uterine prolapse
For complex hysterectomies and other gynecologic procedures, robot-assist surgery may be the most effective, least invasive option. Through tiny, 1-2 cm incisions, our surgeons use robotic instruments to operate with greater precision and control. Some robot-assisted procedures we perform include:
