Coliseum Medical Centers will offer a free seminar called Managing AFib: Reducing Your Risk of Stroke. The free seminar will be held on Friday, March 6 from 10:00am to 11:00am in Building C of Coliseum Medical Centers.

Atrial fibrillation (also called AFib) is an irregular heartbeat that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related complications. While the condition often has no symptoms, some patients do experience heart palpitations, which feel like a racing heart or heart flutter. People with AFib are five times more likely to have a stroke than those without it.

At this seminar, Dr. Oliver Horne, cardiologist, will discuss all aspects of AFib, including prevention, causes, signs, treatment and rehabilitation. The hospital encourages the community to attend in order to learn the steps to take if someone were to show signs of AFib.

Guests can register the seminar by calling (478) 746-4646 or by visiting the “Classes and Events” section of Coliseum Health System's website.
