Come spend an evening with the professionals at Coliseum Northside Hospital for an event open to seniors, caretakers, and family members to learn about the many services we off er for senior care. Our Senior Healthcare Team will also be off ering tours of Coliseum Northside Hospital.

Senior services include many things from intensive care to full rehabilitation. When we treat a patient, we treat the whole person from start to finish, wherever that finish may take him or her. We are constantly communicating with a patient’s home care provider or his or her family to better coordinate treatment following hospitalization.

Coliseum Northside has been recognized as a NICHE designed hospital. NICHE stands for: Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders. The goal of NICHE is to create nursing change that will benefit hospitalized older patients. The vision of NICHE is for all patients 65 and over to be given sensitive and exemplary care. The mission of NICHE is to provide principles and tools to stimulate a change in the culture of healthcare facilities to achieve patient-centered care for older adults. The focus of NICHE is on creating nursing interventions which will have a substantive and positive impact on patient care.

The geriatric rooms in Coliseum Northside Hospital were designed to provide a more peaceful, home-like environment that is optimal for healing. From the moment an elderly patient enters our hospital, he or she notices subtle differences from other healthcare facilities; for example, the walls were painted in earth tones to make the rooms more aesthetically pleasing. There are large clocks and televisions, more comfortable chairs for visitors and private restrooms. The emergency department has two rooms specially renovated with senior patients in mind. The safety of these patients is a priority.
