Morehouse College and Coliseum Cancer Institute Combine to Teach

November 30, 2012

Macon, GA - What if you could help prevent America’s second leading killer in cancer?  Well, you can.  There is an opportunity for you to help save lives by becoming an expert on colon cancer and sharing your knowledge with those in your community.

Coliseum Cancer Institute
Morehouse School of Medicine

This January, The Coliseum Cancer Institute will host Dr. Selina Smith, PhD., of Preventive Medicine with Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA.  Dr. Smith will be teaching three classes on the Education Program to Increase Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening (EPICS).  This EPICS program is designed to educate members within a community – YOU – on colon cancer.  This program then encourages you to share your knowledge on the subject with others.  Dr. Smith will instruct the group on diet, barriers, screenings, and beliefs related to colon cancer.  After completing the course, you will be able to pass along these teachings to your peers and increase awareness within your community.

The program consists of three dates, January 15, 22, and 29th.  You must be able to attend all three dates to participate in the program.  There is no cost for training and lunch will be provided.

If you would like to take the lead in your community, church, or organization – and have an interest to participate in this three-week course – please contact Raymond Jackson with the Coliseum Cancer Institute.  (478.765.4805)  You, truly, can make a difference and help save lives.
