Local Hospital Uses Blogging To Help New Moms
October 27, 2011
Macon, GA - We all know that women love to chat and catch up on the latest when it comes to fashion and new ideas. Now Coliseum Medical Center is making it easier for women to communicate with local experts about their health and the health of their families, all from the comfort of their own home.
“The Daily Waddle” is a new way for women all over the country, especially in the middle Georgia area, to connect and receive information online. Doctors and staff members at The Family Ties Birthing Center at Coliseum Medical Centers wanted to find a way to chat with new and expecting mothers whom they know have a lot of questions about the days, months and even years ahead of them. Instead of patients making an appointment or calling in, they can ask questions online from the convenience of their own home.
Why it works. Blogs are everywhere and provide a useful tool for communication and support. Studies show that whether it’s Twitter, Facebook or blogging, women use social networking tools more so than men do. Coliseum Medical Centers wanted to give new moms and moms-to-be, a one-stop shop blog they know they can count on and trust.
How it works. “The Daily Waddle” is a maternity care resource full of news and information provided by the professionals at The Family Ties Birthing Center at Coliseum Medical Centers. In every blog post, there will be helpful tips on a variety of topics. Many topics are health related such as the latest on fertility, what you can expect during your first trimester and how your young child may react to a new baby. In addition there are topics on diet, nutrition, exercise and even hints about the latest maternity fashion.
“We feel this blog is really going to help connect us with our patients in a way we have never had before. We see what a success social media is for communication and now we have a chance to talk directly with our patients whenever they have questions or concerns,” says Debbie Marino, Director of Women’s Services at Coliseum Medical Centers. “We have already had women telling us how excited they are about it because many of our new moms are nervous, but now they have a starting point.”
