Area Hospitals Joining Forces to Protect You Against the Flu
October 21, 2009
With H1N1 influenza circulating in the community and primarily affecting young people, along with the onset of seasonal flu, area hospitals have come together to put up the first line of defense. With the support of the North Central Health District, The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Coliseum Medical Centers, Coliseum Northside Hospital, Houston Medical Center, and Perry Hospital, have joined together to implement a new youth visitation policy for the protection of patients, visitors, and hospital staff in their facilities.
The Macon-Bibb County Health Department will host the Chief Nursing Officers of each participating hospital and the District Health Director of the District Public Health Office for a press conference on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11am in their Training Room A. The Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization have forecasted that this year will produce an unusually high number of flu cases. This is a rare opportunity for our local hospitals, State & County Health Departments, and media to come together to help educate our communities on how to protect ourselves, our families, and our health care workers.
